The brewery that sponsors us is based at the White Swan public house in Stokesley, North Yorkshire and produces a fine selection of real ales that can be bought on the premises and at a few other select venues. If you're lucky you may even see "Dave the ex-Brewer" playing for us
Last match was a 4 wicket loss on the last ball of the match.
The Club
We are made up of an assortment of cricketers from around the old Cleveland area. We play in the MSV Midweek Cricket League and we are currently in E division of the league. Whilst we are competitive we aim to enjoy the game and give some keen youngsters a chance to taste league cricket.
The original team was part of the ICI cricket section based at Wilton. We were the C team and as ICI Sports and Social Club disappeared we became nomadic, moved to Prissick Base, and gained sponsorship from ICI Surfactants, changing our name to match (though according to the board allocating pitches at Prissick Base on 1 occasion we had become ICI Surfing C***s!!)
After a few years we gained sponsorship from the late Brian Skipp, then landlord of the White Swan, and changed our name to the Captain Cook Brewery Cricket Club. We had a brief couple of seasons at Stokesley CC, followed by a disastrous year at Busby Ponds, Carlton's old pitch. We have for the last 2 seasons played at Skelton Castle Cricket Club where the ground and facilities were very good. We are very much indebted to them in being able to continue our long association with the league.
In order to maintain our sponsorship deal we have moved to the Grange at Great Ayton for the 2008 season which can be found on the map above.
We remain with our sponsorship deal with the Captain Cook Brewery as the beer and the White Swan public house are simply too good to leave.
